Look for pebbles and debris wedged into the track opening. You should also check the track for any warping or cracking, as those are signs that the material has degraded and may need replacement parts.
Look Up and Down for Your Electric Gate Pieces
While the track could be causing the system to become unaligned, there are also issues at the motor and near the top of the system. You might have loose mounting brackets, bolts, or screws that have fallen out due to frequent use or awkward movement.
Don’t try to push the gate on your own. When it is locked into its electric mode, moving it physically can easily damage more of the parts and lead to expensive repairs you weren’t planning on.
Test Your LA Electric Gate’s Movement
Your owner’s manual should include instructions for flipping the electric gate back to “manual mode.” This will allow you to very gently move the gate. If it moves as intended without any resistance, you likely have an electrical issue. If not, it’s mechanical.
Listen as you work. Grinding noises can also indicate that something is in the track or that parts need lubricant to properly function.
